California Poppy

California finally got some rain! *Happy dance* Because California has gotten so much rain in the past few months, Mother Nature has gifted us with beautiful fields of blooming wildflowers. Charlie, my fiancé, his mom, and I decided to grab the opportunity to visit the works of Mother Nature.

We decided to head to the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve. The view was definitely breathtaking as this was a nice change from the typical arid landscapes of California. These wildflowers bloom for a few months (generally around March to mid April). Because California got so much rain this year, these flowers bloomed a few weeks earlier. Beware though! The poppies are starting to fade, so visit the Reserve soon!

I knew I wanted to capture the amazing view and I am so glad I did! These pictures are just snippets of nature’s beauty and bounty.

TIP: For those who would like to visit the Poppy Reserve, try to go as early as possible. The location gets very crowded in the afternoon. Although the Reserve gets packed during the day (especially during the weekends), there are plenty of places to park and take pictures.

I decided to wear neutral colors in order for the bright red-orange poppies to be the main subjects. Luckily, the white dress with the red-orange poppies contrasted very well against the blue skies. I also styled the dress with a neutral grey cardigan to add texture, dimensionality, and movement to the outfit.

Hope you guys enjoyed the post!

What I wore:
Dress: Abercrombie (old)
Shoes: Stuart Weitzman (similar)
Cardigan: Vince (old)
