Back to School

It’s almost that time of year when students are heading back to school. I wish I could go back to elementary school and relive those carefree memories without a care in the world. Let’s be real here. We all know how hard adult-ing is.

This small abandoned school house in Montana brought me back memories of the little nerdy kid in me. It reminded me of the good old days of having P.E., giggling with friends, playing jump rope, and recess. To be honest, seeing this school house made me miss studying, taking notes, and learning in a student-teacher classroom environment. I miss the smell of old and new textbooks. I miss carrying a backpack around campus. I miss writing on college-ruled paper. I miss school. Yup. I just wrote that.

I’ve been in school for a good majority of my life and will hopefully continue going to school to further my education (Maybe medical school? Let’s cross our fingers!). So, I found it fitting to take a few pictures in front of this school house as a reminder of my past student days. Talk about flashback Friday (or throwback Thursday)!

While taking pictures of the unoccupied school, I wanted to capture the pristine condition of the building as well as the scenic landscape of Montana. As a kid and an adult, I’ve always dressed casually and comfortable while attending classes. Let’s be real. It was hard for me to get up early in the morning to figure out what to wear or put on makeup, let alone try to wake up in time to get to my 8:oo AM class. Ideally, wearing a pair of sweatpants, a t-shirt, and a pair of sandals to classes would be my go to outfit, but I didn’t want to look like I just rolled out of bed either.

I decided to pair a simple black dress with a jean jacket and white sneakers to keep it simple and comfortable. After all, you wouldn’t really wear your Louboutin peep-toe heels, a form-fitting miniskirt, and carry your classic Chanel flap bag, while strutting down the hallways as if it was your runway, right? (Let’s save that for the clubs and bars ladies.) I definitely did not want to worry about my butt cheeks hanging out from wearing a miniskirt. Therefore, I decided to wear a dress that was long enough to keep a conservative look but also short enough where it would elongate my petite frame. As for the jacket, I wanted to keep the outfit from looking a little boring but would also keep me warm from the late nights of studying in the library.

I had so much fun shooting this in Montana and was glad I found this little gem to take me down memory lane. I hope you guys enjoyed the post. Peace!

What I wore:
Dress: Abercrombie & Fitch (similar)
Jacket: Madewell
Shoes: Adidas
